Hey there! I’m Tucker Jones, a fly fishing guide based in the beautiful Bitterroot Valley. Born and raised in Hamilton, Montana, I’ve spent the last 23 years splitting my time between Hamilton and Helena, where I attended college at Carroll College. I’ve been fortunate enough to spend over 100 days a year on the water, guiding anglers from all walks of life and all skill levels.
I guide on some of Montana’s most iconic rivers, including the Main Stem Bitterroot, the East and West Forks, and the Missouri River. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned angler, my goal is to make sure you have an unforgettable day on the water. I guide primarily out of my drift boat for comfort and functionality, but I also have a raft ready for different situations.
What I love most about guiding is sharing my passion for fly fishing with others. There’s nothing quite like watching someone land their first trout, and being a part of that moment is truly special. Every day on the water is a chance to learn, whether it’s adapting to the unique challenges of each person I guide or responding to the ever-changing conditions we face. This constant learning keeps me motivated and constantly striving to improve my knowledge and skills, so I can offer the best experience possible to both first-time anglers and veterans of the sport.
My favorite time to be on the water is late June through early July when the Bitterroot stone and Pale Morning Duns are hatching on the Main Stem of the Bitterroot. It’s a magical time for anglers. Another close second would be the early fall, with Blue Wing Olives and Tricos making for some exciting action.
When I’m not guiding, you can usually find me enjoying a meal at Bitterroot Brewery in the valley. They serve fresh, delicious food and have cold beer to enjoy after a great day of fishing.
If you’re looking for a knowledgeable and passionate guide who loves sharing Montana’s rivers with others, I’d love to help you experience the magic of fly fishing!
